Admissions

According to Missouri State Law, a child must be five years or older in or before July 31st in order to enter Kindergarten.

A screening will be given in the spring or summer to all incoming kindergartners to assist the teacher in ordering materials and planning for the years program. Where there is a question of the childs readiness, the child will be observed in a group. If after the screening and the observation, the teacher feels the childs developmental readiness is such that waiting a year would benefit the educational program of the child, the parents will be notified and counseled.

Children who turn 5 between August 1 and August 31 and who have a letter of recommendation from a pediatrician or the preschool the child has been attending, may be screened to determine readiness. In each case of a younger child wanting admission to kindergarten, the child will be observed in a group situation. It is very, very rare that an exception to the August 1 age requirement will be made. In making the decision the child’s developmental readiness, not intellectual ability, will be the deciding factor.

Children must be six years old by August 1 or have successfully completed kindergarten when entering first grade.

IMMUNIZATION RECORDS on an official form must be on file at the school for all students before the first day of school. By state law, no student is allowed to stay in school unless he/she has complied with the necessary immunizations.
